After suffering a near-death experience that left him horribly scarred, the man who identifies himself as “Vengeance” is thoroughly convinced that he has literally gone to Hell and back. As a result, he has adopted the new life purpose of seeking out those who wronged him in the past, and who initially sent him on the road to damnation. To this end, he makes use of myriad of torturing techniques that he apparently learned during his time in Hell. Two unnamed henchmen of unknown origin typically accompany Vengeance. Both of these men see him as a prophet of sorts.
In terms of appearance, Vengeance is thoroughly scarred, and is missing his left eye. He occasionally wears sunglasses to conceal this fact. He also typically dresses in black suits with a matching overcoat, although his clothing is unkempt, wrinkled, and torn.
As a consequence of his vivid memories of Hell, and the tortures that he endured therein, Vengeance is incapable of being interrogated or intimidated. He is an intelligent man, but not nearly as intelligent as he thinks he is. Vengeance is mentally unstable, a fact which becomes more obvious in his increasingly paranoid behaviors.
